Clinical care

You are being seen by a clinical team, or you are that team. Your record is held under your own name.

Research

You are taking part in a study, or running one. Participants are identified by a Study ID and never by name.

Taking part in a study is not the same as being a patient here. A research participant signs in with the Study ID their research team gave them, and is identified by that ID alone: their name is not shown to the research team and is not part of the data the study collects. If you are unsure which of these you are, whoever invited you will have told you your Study ID.
